A Cook's Dream Machine

| I bought this machine using a gift certificate from my last place of employment plus a little of my own dinero, and have been absolutely thrilled with it. It has flawlessly and effortlessly kneaded pasta dough, mixed a double batch of heavy gingerbread cookie dough, grated parmesan cheese to a fine powder, rescued slightly lumpy gravy, whisked together cornbread in seconds, and most recently sliced a variety of vegetables for tossed salad for 25 people (which I was requested to bring to a party--I am not a "salad person," so I was tickled when everyone praised my contribution!). I had never used a food processor for slicing, but it did a beautiful job with bell peppers and cucumbers--artfully thin, but not too fine a cut. As promised, it even did a fine job mincing just a couple of garlic cloves and also a handful of parsley, meaning that I could do a dinner's worth of food-processing in just one machine. The accompanying video can only be watched by people who take food equipment seriously; other family members had to be asked to leave the room during the viewing, as there was much giggling about the over-earnest instructions. Nevertheless, I picked up some fabulous tips about using the Cuisinart, and recommend you sit (alone, or with a true believer) and watch it beginning to end. The surface of the machine is very easy to clean, and Cuisinart recommends the dishwasher for the bowl and blades. Do be careful with the latter--Cuisinart should really include the disk holder, as it is dangerous to leave these accessories lying around in a kitchen drawer. This is the third food processor I have owned, and though I mourned the demise of my trusty Panasonic (rated highly by Consumer Reports ten years ago), with this high-end Cuisinart I have "been to Paree" and have no intention of going back to the farm. If you do any industrial-strength cooking, or if you (like me) are sold on using a food processor as a high-powered, self-contained unit for basic mixing duties, this is a wonderful accomplice in your prandial ventures. Bravo Cuisinart! |

| When shopping for a new food processor, this one looked good, but I hesitated at first because of the price. I went ahead and splurged, and I'm so glad I did. This machine is unbelievable. I use it almost daily. It is easy to use, easy to clean, voluminous, and sturdy. Plus all the pieces stack nicely inside the bowl, so it really does not take up much space. My favorite uses: chop herbs (which I HATE doing by hand), make bean dips, make veggie spreads, slice carrots, shred cabbage, puree soups (careful -- it can splatter and leak through the middle hole, out so don't fill it too much with liquid), and puree tofu-based sauces and pie fillings. If you're looking for a machine that does mostly liquids, (soups/smoothies), opt for a blender. If you only prepare small amounts of food, this machine is not for you. It does not chop small amounts evenly; it is made for large jobs and really comes through beautifully. It also kneads dough, but I use my bread machine for that. |

I bought my DLC-2014 about a year ago when replacement parts for my 15-year-old Bosch became too hard to find. I was encouraged by the Cuisinart reputation and the outstanding reviews it received, and wasn't disappointed when it arrived. The machine is heavy- no more posting a kid by the counter to make sure it doesn't walk off if I have to step away for a few seconds. It's aerodynamically smooth on the outside, so it's a snap to clean. (I was going to say "sexily smooth" but I realized that sounds a little strange when you're talking about a food processor. But then, if you truly love quality kitchen tools, as I do, maybe it wouldn't be going too far.) I don't buy anything I have to wash by hand and everything but the base can be put into the dishwasher. I use it on a daily basis, and often find myself making, for example, 3 batches of bread dough in quick succession rather than pull out and assemble my big mixer. (I feel that the processor does tend to heat bread dough up a little, so I might recommend adjusting the temperature of the water in recipes.) I was devastated the one time I had problems with it- my 7 year old was mixing cookie dough in it and it just stopped and simply would not start again. (I'll admit I wasn't watching too closely so I don't know why it happened; I suspect she must have put in ingredients in the wrong order). I felt a little better when I looked in the manual and saw that there is a 10-year warranty on the motor, and was overjoyed later when, after I gave it sufficient time to cool off, it worked as if it were new. My biggest complaint about the processor, and this did not keep me from giving it a "5", is that with normal household use, the cover and pusher assembly have developed some cracks which, so far, have not affected performance. The white plastic piece on the work bowl handle is loose, too, and if it comes off completely it may end up causing me to replace the bowl, as it shields the locking mechanism. A friend has commented that she has been similarly disappointed with her Cuisinart processor. I don't coddle the parts; perhaps they were dropped at some point (I'll blame the kids- they won't read this!) or had some heavy dishes placed on top of them in the sink, or it could have been stress cracks caused by the heat of the dishwasher (though I always place them on the top rack). Whatever the reason, I never expected the Lexan parts to show this much wear so quickly. After looking unsuccessfully for replacement bowls and covers at various online sites, I finally found that I could order them directly from Cuisinart. (Hint, hint, Amazon!) The price for a complete bowl and cover assembly shocked me- about a third of what I paid for the whole processor. Will I buy the parts, at what I feel are too steep prices? Of course. I have to. I won't even wait until the ones I have now become unusable, because that would mean going for -gasp!- a week or more without it, and around here, that would be as unbearable as the time our coffeemaker went- but that's a different review. |

Oh My God! I love this machine!! I researched and researched til my fingers were numb and found this little beauty to be top of the line. I have literally used it every single day since then. I have no complaints except that the machine moves a little when pulsing- but that is just because of it's exceptional power, so there really is no complaint there. I have sliced, diced, mixed dough, chopped my way into several recipes and they have been outstanding. The DLC-2014 comes with a new feeding system, wider mouth, which is fabulous....there is a new dough button which has proven to be exceptional in mixing dough in (literally) SECONDS!!! It is a little tricky to make sure not to overprocess onions and such because it is so powerful, but once you get the hang of it is is simple. I DEFINATELY recommend this processor to everyone. I also recommend the blade/disc holder since storing the blades is literally impossible. They are so sharp and abnormal shaped to store in any drawer, and protection is a consideration. Have fun with this baby! |

| The Cuisinart PowerPrep Plus is a beautiful workhorse! It is large enough to handle large jobs in one batch, rather than having to make things in repeated batches as has been my experience with other machines. I love this processor and am finding more and more uses for it. I use it practically daily. The accompanying video demistifies the machine and also gives some good cooking tips. All pieces fit comfortably in the dishwasher so clean-up is a snap. I have not encountered any negatives as yet! |

I have owned and used other food processors. I complained frequently. However, I have problems with my hands and require a food processor in order to prepare the dishes my family enjoys. When my last processor "died", I read all of the reviews on various food processors. I finally selected the DLC-2014 based on the specifications of the motor. After reading a few negative comments, though, I expected I would dislike this food processor, too. I can say truthfully that the DLC-2014 PowerPrep Plus 14-Cup Food Processor eliminated my food processor frustrations and complaints the first time I used it. My husband and I have one comment when either of us uses the DLC-2014: "Wow!" I tried to duplicate the negatives I read in reviews. I failed. This particular food processor accomplishes my tasks with ease. I recommend it to anyone who requires a serious food processor. |

| With the dough mixing capability, you do not need a food mixer. This processor is a heavy duty all purpose device every working kitchen needs. The plastic parts are heavy duty and well designed with operator safety in mind and dish washer safe. I highly recommend buying the parts caddy to protect the sharp blades of the chopper and slicers. The only thing I would like to buy is a larger diameter veggie feeder top so I can slice larger tomatoes and onions. |
Highly recommended

| Consumer Reports rated this highly, it's a big machine and I was fed up with my small one. I am very pleased with it - it copes with everything I have asked it to do, mixing batters and doughs in no time. I mistakenly filled it too full when making soup - it is not a blender and you need to put in a minimum of liquid or it leaks. My daughter says you can't put enough air into the mix of flour and fat when making pastry this way, but I'm not a great pastry cook and don't notice. Thanks to previous reviewers, I spent the extra and got the rack for the discs and choppers, a good investment as it keeps them safe and sharp - you can so easily cut yourself on the choppers. With the rack everything is put away and it locks closed to keep it tidy when you stow it in a cupboard. There is an interlock on the large food chute to prevent you putting your fingers down it. However, you can put a large chunk in and then place the pusher on top, and the machine will work. Once you are used to it, it's easy to use and the safety feature is a good one for those of us who are absent minded - the chute is VERY large and it would be easy to hurt yourself. The machine cleans easily with a damp cloth - no buttons, just a push pad, but it is too large to stow away in a cupboard so I have to leave it out. |

| I received this as a gift this Christmas to replace a Cuisinart that I have been using for 30 years. I am very much impressed with it. I have made the Challah bread, corn bread and cinnamon buns from the recipe book that came with it. The machine did an excellent job and the results were wonderful. I would definitely recommend this Cuisinart food processor |

This food processor lives up to all it's claims. I have researched food processors for about a month before I decided which one to buy. I decided on the dfp 14 cup classic. When I went to a local store, the sales lady talked me into the dlc 2011, 11 cup. I am not happy with the latter model. My main point of owning a food processor is to make dough. With the 11 cup machine, I followed the dough recipe to a tee, the maching jumped all over the counter and started to smell, and the motor stayed hot for about 35 minutes. I called Cuisinart customer service (very satisfied) and they told me I had 30 days to return the machine to the store. So I did. In the meantime I ordered the dlc-2014. I love the machine. I made a batch of dough the day after receiving it (I used free delivery and it arrived in just a few days) and it worked perfectly and lived up to all my expectations. No jumping, straining or smell that the motor is being overworked. I love the dough button feature. I think it saves strain on the motor. I plan on making my family homemade bread with this machine for years.
I will also use it for chopping, shredding and slicing and a whole lot of other things. GREAT MACHINE. WORTH THE MONEY. |
A Marvel Of A Machine!

| I have loved and used Cuisinart Food Processors for over 25 years. If anyone is looking to purchase one, I highly suggest the 14-cup Power Prep, a marvel of a machine. First of all, you can knead French bread dough in just 40 seconds! You can use a Cuisinart FP for almost every recipe, but I've written just a few Rules of Thumb (tips) that I have found to be tried and true! Kneading White Bread: The 14-cup model will do recipes up to 6 cups of white flour (2 large French Bread loaves). Add your bread recipe ingredients (with half of the white bread flour listed in the recipe) to the work bowl, process to make a smooth batter. Add the rest of the flour, 1 cup at a time (with the last 1/2 cup through the feed tube) until the dough collects and starts to clean the sides of the bowl. Then count to 40, to dough perfection. Wheat Bread: I've found that 3-cup whole-wheat flour recipes are best suited for this size of model (1 large loaf) since 100% whole wheat is twice as heavy white bread flour. Rolls: Process until the dough collects and cleans the sides of the bowl, then count for 30 seconds. Pasta or Tortillas recipes: Process and knead until the dough collects and cleans the sides of the bowl. Chilling the dough in plastic wrap for 30-60 minutes makes rolling much easier. Piecrusts: Cutting in the fat, is simplified in a Cuisinart. Using very cold butter slices in place of shortening, rivals the best tasting crusts too. FYI: Don't process the dough to a dough ball, just PULSE until the mixture pinches together easily between your fingers. Dump the contents onto wax paper, then form dough into a ball and knead a few times by hand (adding a teaspoon of water or two, as needed). Wrap the pastry ball in plastic and chill for an hour for easy rolling. Quick Breads: Add recipe ingredients and PULSE, just until the flour barely disappears. Scrape out contents into greased pans. Enjoy your Cuisinart Purchase! Warmly, Sharon Anne Check out my cooking info site www.sharonanne.com for more tips and recipes. |

| I am a working mom who loves to cook but my time is limited. This 14 cup processor is great for me because I can do large or double batches of most anything and save time (I have the professional 6 quart KitchenAid mixer if that tells you anything). The first day I got it I had just been given a large bag of sweet potatoes and I made filling for 2 sweet potato pies in one batch. I had purchased and returned a KitchenAid processor because I had a problem with liquids leaking out the bottom (the center post was too short) but this processor worked great. It has handled everything I've thrown at it, from pesto to shrimp dip to scones and cookie dough. I haven't tried bread yet (one of the reasons I got it) but will try that next. Most cooks could probably go with the 11 cup model but I'm really glad I didn't! |

| Received the Power Pro to replace an old old DLC-7. What a terrific difference. Particylarly like the way the pusher tube inserts instead of the old method of twisting on. Makes loading the feed tube for slicing much faster and easier. Much easier to keep clean than the old style with the levers. I'm looking forward to working with my new model more! |
Many Uses with Cuisinart® PowerPrep Food Processor

Imagine kneading bread dough to perfection, in as little as 40 seconds! Its how I make FRENCH BREAD. I also make all my dinner rolls and sweet rolls in the Cuisinart® (yum)!
Easily mix cakes, quick breads, and piecrusts. Effortlessly chop, slice and shred food; you can even grind meat.
Touch Pad: I love it's smooth, easy to clean and computerized touch pad.
Buttons: (OFF, ON, Pulse and Dough) The dough button kneads bread to perfection in 30-40 seconds. Plus it features a powerful induction motor for HEAVY DOUGH. Note: Still ALWAYS only make 3 lbs. wheat dough (1 large loaf) even in this model. Wheat flour is twice as dense as white!
Blades (4 total): This model uses two metal blades; with one for chopping, mixing, kneading dough (also for lighter dough recipes of 3 c or less white flour, particularly small wet sweet doughs). The other metal "dough" blade is for kneading the heavy dough recipes (anything over 4-6 cups of white flour or 3 cups wheat flour). There's also one 4mm slicing blade and a medium shredding blade (it's detachable stem fits either).
Locking System: Here's where the PPP shines! :-) The improved lid and feed tube assembly (with it's safety locking system) is much easier to use (at least to figure out).
Lid: Each Cuisinart includes a lid and 2 pushers (with a large feed and a smaller inner feed tube).
If you want a "top of the line" food processor, for your smallest to larger needs, you won't be disappointed with this model! --Sharon Anne

I have owned Cuisinart food processors for the past 30 years, and by far, the DLC2014N has been the best. In particular, the large feeding tuble allows for whole tomatoes, onions, potatoes etc to be beatifully processed. As another reviewed mentioned, this puppy is a workhorse and is used every day of the week!
One reviewer mentioned that the machine "moves" when on...no problem, simply put one of those rubberized tyupe drawer liners underneath. Problem solved.
I highly recommend this wonderful unit to anyone looking to either replace an existing processor or wanting to purchase one for the first time. Truly the "cream of the crop".

| I know the 14 cup capacity is large compared to what is generally available but well worth it when doing large grating and chopping jobs. We have not had this unit very long but it has saved us a tremendous amount of time in our everyday food prep. The large mouth feed tube is great for whole potatoes when grating. I would definetly recomend this unit to anyone. I have had smaller less powerfull units in the past and I would never go back to those. The construction seems solid with assembly and disassembly easy and intuitive. I like the safety interlock design as well. |

I just purchased my third Cuisinart food processor in 30 years, theCuisinart DLC-2014N PowerPrep Plus 14-Cup Capacity Food Processor, White which replaced my old Custom 11, the Cuisinart processor I owned and loved for the past 20 of those 30 years. The Custom 11 finally gave up the ghost during my recent holiday raw vegan food preparation, after years of serving me efficiently and well. The Custom 11 replaced my original 7 cup Cuisinart which I bought in 1980. The 7 cup also served me well, perhaps not as efficiently as the later model and as noisy as all get-out, but still like a war horse for a good 10 years before I burned out its motor in the middle of a project, trying to grind too many nuts for my Christmas treats so many holidays ago.
I knew I was going to stick with Cuisinart again and I also knew I needed a 14 cup model this time around but I was a bit overwhelmed with all my choices ~ PowerPrep, Elite, Custom and variations thereof. I was resigned to spending over $200 so I studied all the reviews I could find long and hard before I decided that the 14 cup PowerPrep was the way to go, giving me the most bang for my buck and satisfying all the needs of my raw vegan kitchen. I chose correctly!
I ordered my new Cuisinart from Amazon on Saturday the 26th and received it via free shipping on Wednesday the 29th! Unbelievable! And it was priced so well! I immediately unpacked this beauty, set it up easily and quickly and went right to work, experimenting with the every blade except the dough blade which I really don't have much use for. I chopped, sliced, shredded and ground with ease. This baby is incredible and I am so very happy I selected the Cuisinart DLC-2014N PowerPrep Plus 14-Cup Capacity Food Processor, White!
First of all, although I never had a problem operating my Custom 11, I didn't realize how quirky and awkward it was until I put the PowerPrep to work. The PowerPrep just purrs! It is so EASY and so QUIET ~ 2 huge pluses for me. The ease of operation is a Godsend for someone like me who suffers with the limited mobility and cognitive impairment of a disabling chronic illness. Living with my disability usually involves a constant struggle to complete kitchen tasks that are otherwise impossible. Handling knives can be dangerous; chopping, slicing and grating painful; standing over the kitchen counter and cutting board exhausting. I appreciate so much this powerful and efficient food processor for the quiet ease in helping me nourish myself with the beautifully prepared raw vegan meals that add healing nutrition and pleasant variety to my life.
Secondly, I'm thrilled with the warranty ~ a full 10 year warranty on the motor and 3 years for defects in material or workmanship. It was also nice to get an instructional DVD (and a recipe book which I won't use but it looks very good for conventional cooks).
Thirdly, I'm excited about the optional accessories. I have already ordered a 2 mm thin slicing blade disc for processing cabbage for my homemade sauerkraut. Otherwise I would have to be using my mandoline to shred all that cabbage and I just don't trust myself with its sharp blade nor do I care to spend all that time shredding by hand ~ a nightmare for carpal tunnel disorder. I also have a 6mm julienne blade on my wish list which reminds me to suggest you also purchase Cuisinart Blade and Disc Holder or Cuisinart DLC-DH Disc Holder to protect your blades as well as those precious digits of yours.
So my last words are especially for other raw foodies ~ I highly recommend this model for your raw kitchen essentials and encourage you to go with 14 cups. I'm certain you'll be glad to have the larger capacity.
Finally, I couldn't be happier with Cuisinart and I'm sure I will continue to be happy for the next 20 years! |
